After a few days of tinkering, the new blog is up and ready to go. Here I'll be chronicaling my exploits as a member of the Fedora QA team, Open Source enthusiast and all-around nerd. You'll for sure find announcements about the lastest Fedora release as well as tutorials on how to do/fix/build stuff for or on Fedora.
I spent some time trying to decide the best platform to use. I looked at setting up an account on Heroku, Openshift, AWS or WP.com and using a pre-boxed solution on one of those providers - but I finally decided on Pelican for ease of use (and it's python!).
For those of you who aren't familiar, Pelican is an open source static site generator written in python. Basically, you write your posts (as well as pages, like the "About" link in the menu) in Markdown (what I use), reStructuredText or AsciiDoc syntax, run it through Pelican and you have a site. All the required directories, html files and links are neatly packed in a directory for easy uploading to wherever you have hosting.
Instead of utilizing Openshift or Heroku, I decided to simply use the space provided by creating a Fedora Account and joining in with the Fedora project. I won't bore you with the implementation details, but it's a fairly straight-forward process to get setup with.
